How to connect several Dishes to my STRONG Receiver using DiSEqC Switches ?

A DiSEqC Switch  (Digital Satellite Equipment Control) is a device, which enables you to connect multiple LNBs to a common satellite receiver.
Connecting your  Digital Satellite Receiver to several dishes give you the opportunity to increase the number of FREE-TO-AIR Channels to view.
In Nigeria and in Western Africa you can receive more than 20 different Satellites broadcasting FREE-TO-AIR channels. So why prevent yourself from increasing your number of TV Channels ?

How Does a DiSEqC Switch work ?

A DiSEqC Switch is a peripheral device which enable the selection of one of a multitude of connected LNB  sources (950-2300MHz Intermediate Frequency) on the basis of digital commands generated by the receiver.

All Digital Satellite Receiver are not DiSEqC compliant, especially poor quality STB provided by Pay-TV operators. All STRONG Receivers are DiSEqC compliant.

Settings

You have to go to the Installation/Settings page of your STRONG receiver. Then you have to select the input of the LNB (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) according to the LNB which receives the signal of a particular satellite.
For instance, if the LNB which  receives the signal of Astra 2F is connected to the input 1 of your DiSEqC Switches, you will have to select in the setting page input 1 for Astra 2F.
If you receive with a single LNB two different satellites (which are close in the space one from each other; for instance Amos 5 & Eutelsat 16), you will have to configure your receiver with the two satellites connected to the same input.

Satellite televisions has now become common in almost every homes today and it has helped reduced the cost on buying movies. However we have two main satellite tv transmitions. We have free to air satellite transmitions and what we called pay view transmitions like dstv multichoice, cana+ Afrique and My tv which are all pay view and it comes with monthly subscription depending on the type of package choosen. HOW TO MAINTAIN A PERFECT SATELLITE TV SIGNAL DURING THE RAINY SEASON

The rains are back and many subscribers are beginning to suffer from occasional loss of signal from their satellite dish. Some services like DStv, MyTV and others are usually prone to weather interferences like rain or windstorm. This is because such satellite TV signals are transmitted through the KU-Band which naturally has weak weather-proof capabilities. However, apart from natural rain interferences lies the common problem of satellite dish installation disruptors. This is seen when your decoder losses signal after a heavy wind or rainfall. This kind of problems have made most subscribers pay through their noses to have them fixed while some have packed up their DStv and other satellite systems out of frustration.

Today, I shall tell you how best to beat the stubborn bad weather or rain, maintain steady satellite decoder and TV signals and keep the installers away from your doorstep. If you are planning to purchase a new satellite decoder system or already have one, this trick will be of great help towards making you enjoy your satellite TV services through steady decoder signals.

Reconsider the Installed Location of the Satellite Dish

There is need to re-access the location of your previously-installed satellite dish or even a newly-purchased dish. Depending on the location of your home or office, consider the usual direction of airflow as well as the possible place to locate satellite signal. Ensure that your dish is installed where it would not experience the direct impact of the blowing wind or rain drops.

Installation in progress

The direct slap of the wind or clashes of the raindrops gradually sags or weighs down on the nuts, screws and bolts holding the dish in place. This leads to periodic loss of signal irrespective of how tightly it was installed. Secondly, the splashing effect of the raindrops increases the cracking effect on the images on the screen.

Engage a Qualified Installer

Another major factor that ensures strong and lasting installation is your ability to engage a qualified technician or installer. In my previous post, I explained in details how to find the perfect and competent satellite TV installer or technician for your installation needs. A reliable installer relates to a quality job and in turn, a long-lasting installation.

Use Well-Sized F-Connectors for the Satellite Installation

F-connectors are small screw-like round bolts used in joining wires to devices like the decoder and the dish LNB. the effectiveness of your signal depends on how appropriate and well-sized the F-connectors are. Tell your installer to show you how the F-connectors look like and then ensure that the appropriate ones are being used. Some crafty installers might use loose or rusted F-connectors and then affix them with cello tapes thereby hiding the ugliness of their DStv and other satellite installation works.

Avoid Passing your connection cables through sharp metallic objects or security barb wires
One thing that damages the satellite components and disrupt your signal is the lightning. Lightning penetrates the system mostly through faulty LNBs and connection cables passed through sharp metal objects. These metal objects pierce the wires through which lightning current leak into the satellite TV system and leads to over-voltage. When this happens, one could loose the entire decoder and dish system or if lucky, could only disrupt your signal for a reasonable length of time.

Generally, every qualified installer knows how to guard against any possible danger to your satellite decoder and TV system. However, your knowledge of how to maintain a perfect DStv and other satellite decoder signals during the rains would ensure that no installer takes advantage of your ignorance. It would also enable you to take well-informed decisions whenever any challenges are being faced. Feel free to share this post and comment for a more wholistic interactivity and share of more ideas.

HOW TO FIND A GENUINE AND COMPETENT INSTALLER OR TECHNICIAN TO FIX YOUR DSTV, OTHER SATELLITE DECODER AND TV PROBLEMS

When your DStv or other satellite TV decoders become faulty, finding the perfect technician or installer to fix the problem could be a herculean task. Due to the large subscriber base of such digital satellite and terrestrial TV services, many self-acclaimed engineers have taken to repairing satellite decoders and fixing many other TV-related problems. Unfortunately, while a lot of these engineers are not qualified enough to handle such problems, a lot others become threats to your home, office or private security. Hence, it is very important that you take care in locating and selecting a genuine and competent installer or technician to fix your DStv decoders or some other types of satellite or terrestrial TV services.
This post will comprehensively expose the major factors to consider in order to find a perfect match for that TV decoder problem you are having. Remember that it is very certain that at one point or another, your TV services must encounter one fault or another, therefore it is very necessary to know how to find the right installer , technician in your area to fix your DStv, MyTV, Startimes, STRONG, NileSat, ArabSat, JVC or other decoder issues.

ENSURE THE ACCREDITATION STATUS OF THE INSTALLER

As far as DStv or other satellite or terrestrial TV services are concerned, there are standard organizations that accredit or certify installers. This certification follows after series of practical and theoretical examinations as well as real-time practical experiences for a period of time. The tested and confirmed technicians are awarded certificates and in some cases issued with serial numbers which is registered on either the government or an organized private sector database. When in need of installers to fix your DStv, or any other decoder, enquire about the accreditation or certification status or number. This helps to entrust confidence, security, integrity and dignity in labor in the field.

INSTALLER IS REGISTERED WITH AN EXISTING PHYSICAL FIRM

Avoid engaging roadside self-acclaimed installers or technicians. Whenever you have need tofix your DStv or any other decoder issues, ensure you walk into a well-established office, undergo all necessary due process and then take an installer home. It is a huge security risk to engage installers or technicians or unknown identity. Unverifiable installers have turned out to be rapists, murderers and perpetrators of all forms of crime in the home of their unlucky employers.

ACCESS THE INSTALLER FOR SOME DESIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES

Apart from security implications, the competency of an installer can be measured to a large extent on the personal disposition of the technician. DStv and most other satellite or terrestrial decoders are built on complex and high technology which would require a well-educated, experienced and mature person to comfortably handle. The way one speaks and dresses and expresses himself could reveal his level of competence, sincerity and trustworthiness. If you are comfortable with an installer’s personal qualities, accreditation status and company of attachment, then you must have found the prefect installer or technician to fix your DStv decoder issues or any other decoder brand problems.

Top software to Open TV3 on strong 4920, 4922 & 4922A

Since system upgrade done by Multi-TV some decoders are not opening TV3 even if the Biss key is inserted.God being so good I have stumble upon software that will open TV3  on specific decoders. In this article, I will be sharing links to software that will fix TV3 not opening on strong 4920, 4922 & 4922A Please be warned that the strong software only works for the strong models listed above.
Do not attempt to load it on an incompatible strong decoder unless you know what you are doing or you are ready to do so at your own risk. If there is power outage while you are at it, there is 100% likely hood that your device will be soft-bricked. Finally; do not load this software on a copy / clone/ fake strong decoder. If you load it on a fake strong decoder, that decoder will die.

HOW YOU CAN TRACK AT LEAST FOUR SATELLITES ON 1 METER DISH

HOW YOU CAN TRACK AT LEAST FOUR SATELLITES ON 1 METER DISH

Many of us already have an idea of what this article entails. I mean, we all know that you can attempt to use on lnb to get two separate but close satellite degrees(for example 28e and 36e). You can also use at least
two separate lnb on on lnb holder to get two separate satellite position.

WHAT IS THE CONTEXT OF THIS ARTICLE?

We all know that a 1 meter dish can successfully track eutelsat 9e, 60cm dish can track either of 28e, 1e or 5e. This article is going to focus on how you can track 9e, 5e. This article will briefly illustrate how you can track four close and not too close satellites using a well designed LNB holder and a 1 meter dish. The satellite in question are: Astra 2e/2f/2g at 28.2e, eUTELSAT 16A at 16e, Eutelsat 9B at 9.0e, Astra 4A/SES-5 at 5.0e
NOTE: Please if you are not an installer, do not try this yourself unless you have unlimited time to get this sorted out.pay for the service of a professional satellite installer to help you get it done. It is not as easy as it seems but its 100% possible.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS  TO GET THIS DONE

  1. You need the frequencies for all this position which you can get either on this site or on www.lynsgat.com. For example , the frequency to track 5e is (12379 H 27500).
  2. You need to get the service of a satellite installer except you are one yourself.
  3. You need the special well-designed 4 ways / 4in1 lnb holder(mostly available in Lagos Nigeria. You can also get it from big strong dealers) Alternatively, you can have a shrewd welder help you construct it.
  4. Then Track and enjoy. The picture after tracking will look like the one below:

CONCLUSION

This is not a close-end process. I mean you can come up with your own improvisation like 5 lnb older(this will be only on a bigger dish than 1 meter though) and so on. Secondly, you should be aware that tracking this satellite is not a per-requisite for unscrambling the scrambled channels on them you can only watch the fta channels on them or use special accounts / devices to watch the scrambled channels on them. Some of the channels watchable with special account are startimes on 5e and Afn(powervu) /9e non-sports with cccam

How to watch free channels on DStv Africa. Channels & Settings.

How to watch free channels on DStv Africa. Channels & Settings.

For those who do not know already, there a few unencrypted channels on Eutelsat W4 and Eutelsat W7, both located at 36° East. DStv was formerly on W4 but is now beaming its signals from W7. The information I am sharing relates to how to view the unencrypted channels that share the same satellite as Multichoice’s DStv, and not how to illegally hack into DStv’s encrypted channels.

DStv decoders are designed, manufactured and sold to receive Multichoice services only. Therefore, I offer no guarantee that all the channels I am sharing would necessarily work on your DStv decoder. The DStv HD decoder for example, does not offer a “Public bouquet” and even for the single view decoders that do, one might be unable to watch the unencrypted channels once subscription is overdue. It would thus make the most sense to simply buy a good MPEG4-compatible digital satellite receiver and connect same to your satellite dish. There would be more on that later.

Some unencrypted TV channels currently available on Eutelsat W4 & W7.

The free channels from China

The easiest unencrypted channels to watch are the following 3 TV channels from China Central Television (CCTV), the major state television broadcaster in mainland China:

CCTV News (formerly CCTV 9): this channel is targetted at an English-speaking international audience and mainly broadcasts news and current affairs programmes
CCTV-F: programming targetted at a French-speaking international audience
CCTV-4: an international channel broadcast in Chinese language
Any DStv decoders can view the CCTV channels whether your subscription is expired or not. So long your satellite is pointed towards 36° East.

If you are using a good Free-To-Air (FTA) digital satellite receiver, a blind scan should reveal the CCTV channels. Else, enter the following parameters to your receiver:

In South Africa – Frequency: 11637 Symbol rate: 22000 Polarization: Vertical FEC: 3/4
Rest of Africa – Frequency: 11940 Symbol rate: 27500 Polarization: Horizontal FEC: 3/4 and Frequency: 11862 Symbol rate: 27500 Polarization: Horizontal FEC: 3/4
The free channels from East Africa

In recent times, a few channels have emerged on Eutelsat W7 from Kenya, and beamed at the African continent:

NTV Kenya: a leading TV channel in Kenya offering news and general entertainment
KBC Channel 1: a TV service from the wholly-state owned Kenya Broadcasting Corporation
K24: a news and current affairs channel from Kenya
KTN Kenya: an all-round channel in Kenya. Arguably the leading TV station
NTV Uganda: a general entertainment channel targetted at Uganda
Parameters:

Frequency: 11731 Symbol rate: 8751 Polarization: Vertical FEC: 3/5
Frequency: 11716 Symbol rate: 3141 Polarization: Vertical FEC: 3/4
The free channels from Francophone West Africa

A bouquet of mostly French-speaking African channels exist on Eutelsat W4.

La Chaîne de Futur (LCF): a tv channel from Togo
Mboa TV: an entertainment TV channel based in France and exclusively dedicated to black-afro artists
RTS 1 (Senegal): Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS) is the Senegalese public broadcasting company
2STV: a TV channel in Senegal broadcasting mainly cultural programmes, interviews with local music and other artistic stars, and talkshows
Touba TV: a privately-owned TV channel in Senegal
ORTB TV: Office de Radiodiffusion et Télévision du Bénin (ORTB) is a the mainstream terrestrial television channel and radio operator in Benin
LoveWorld Plus: Christian-themed programming in  English language from Nigeria
Parameters:

Frequency: 12437 Symbol rate: 23437 Polarization: Horizontal FEC: 3/4
Kindly note that the channels are subject to change without notice. Thus, re-scanning your receiver regularly ensures that you are constantly in the loop as to the current channels.

As always, your comments and suggestions are welcome.
